STUDSON Introduces Above-the-Neck Accessories for Protection From Winter Elements

STUDSON introduces above-the-neck accessories for winter work conditions; including fleece skull cap, telescoping headlamp, and earplug garage designed to enhance safety and comfort for workers wearing SHK-1 safety helmets. These add-ons align with ANSI standards and aim to protect against cold stress, improve visibility, and provide easy access to ear protection. New SHK-1 version with HighBar mono-chinstrap system and advanced safety features set to be released next year.

North American safety helmet innovator STUDSON released a series of accessories to better protect workers from the effects of cold temperatures and working in dark and loud environments: a fleece skull cap, a telescoping headlamp and an earplug garage attachment, all purpose-built for use with the STUDSON SHK-1 series of ANSI Z89.1 Type II safety helmets.

"Outdoor workers exposed to cold and windy conditions are at risk of cold stress, and they require effective clothing accessories that will enable them to stay comfortable, safe, and productive," said Ryan Barnes, STUDSON CEO.

"Providing warm headwear specifically designed for the SHK-1 safety helmet enables workers to mitigate the effects of cold stress without sacrificing the effectiveness of their safety helmet. For example, wearing a hood under a safety helmet may keep a worker warm, but it can reduce the effectiveness of a safety helmet during a slip, trip or fall."

Fleece Helmet Liner

According to ANSI Z89.1-1969, "accessories" and "winter liners" must be specifically designed to be compatible with the protective properties of a helmet. Therefore, beanies and hoodies should not be used for cold weather protection under a safety helmet. The perfect companion for ultimate comfort and warmth while working in challenging industrial environments, STUDSON's Fleece Helmet Liner is designed to fit snugly under any version of the SHK-1 safety helmet.

The 97 percent polyester and 3 percent elastane fleece-lined cap provides a soft, insulating layer to keep workers warm, productive and focused on the job, even in the harshest conditions, according to the company.

Telescoping Headlamp

Designed for industrial athletes and workers, the STUDSON SHK-1 Telescoping Headlamp is a multifunctional headlamp adaptable to various job site environments, ensuring enhanced visibility and flexibility during any task.

Compatible with both the STUDSON SHK-1 Full Brim Helmet and STUDSON SHK-1 Standard Brim Helmet, this headlamp is built to enhance productivity in low-light conditions.

Earplug Garage

The STUDSON Earplug Garage provides a practical solution, keeping ear protection accessible and within reach. Designed to integrate with all STUDSON helmets, this earplug holder offers a secure, durable fit for various earplug types while maintaining a sleek and low-profile design. Made from Grivory, a tough glass-fiber reinforced nylon, the Earplug Garage is built to withstand demanding environments.

To further improve all-season comfort, earlier this year STUDSON announced a new version of the SHK-1 featuring the HighBar mono-chinstrap system, expected to become available next year.

All STUDSON safety helmets incorporate Koroyd welded polymer tubes, which more efficiently absorb shock upon impacts compared to EPS foam. On the shell, the helmet features embedded Twiceme technology, offering individual workers the optional capability to upload their critical health data for ease of access for first responders. Inside, the helmets include the machine washable Ionic+padding system featuring materials that disrupt cell division and replication processes of bacteria, leaving the fabric cleaner with fewer microbes.
